  Bunch of THIEFS is all they are! I was referred to Tom Engell by a mutual friend because I got audited. He charged me $750 retainer fee, never even started working on an audit I came to him for in the first place. He said that 2016 needs to be filed first. He prepared the return, which is really not that complicated at all, I could have done it myself on Turbo Tax for $50! When he told me I owed $10,000 I sent his prepared return to another CPA, who does returns for travel and contract nurses (which Tom has no clue about and wasn't willing to find out!) for a second opinion, who told me that there are many omissions and that I qualify for many more deductions being a single mother, a home owner in another state, and working as a travel nurse in CA. So I thanked Tom for his time and asked for all my documents to be sent back to me. I expected them to refund at least $250 or more from $750 retainer fee they charged me. But I got NOTHING! He charged me $30 for the power of attorney form which I NEVER even GOT! He charged me $275 dollars for a phone conversation that lasted 23 minutes and 35 seconds! Yes, that's $12/minute that he NEVER warned me about! That is dishonest!!! Some Mike person made couple final changes to my return and that cost me $250! How long did he work on this? How much do they charge an hour? That was NEVER disclosed to me! EVER! These people have absolutely no integrity, they are a dishonest bunch of crooks! STAY AWAY!!!
